Very timely comment. The Food Industry Group has spent considerable effort and time ensuring progress under the Food Industry Accord. FIG members have achieved a huge amount in terms of positive changes regarding food reformulations, marketing practices, sponsorships and so forth. The obesity problem will never be solved properly but we have made enormous progress. Hopefully, this will continue. However,FIG does not represent a wide range of organisations and outlets that produce and sell food - such as bakeries, eating malls, hospitality and carering areas - these places must make substantial changes too if all of Food Industry is to contribute to finding ways to help in the obesity area.
